Is Zionism Racism? Psalm 48, By Dr. August Rosado

Psalm 48 is a Zion hymn showing the greatness of God and His security over Jerusalem. Jerusalem is His holy city and an unconquerable city in which He dwells.

Psalm 48 opens by declaring the Lord, Adonai, and His great power in repelling the enemies of Israel and watching over His holy city Jerusalem forever.

God is highly praised in Jerusalem, His holy mountain. The city that Jesus described in Matthew 5:35, "Yerushalyim, it, shel ha,Melech, Ha,Gadol", Jerusalem, the city of the Great King.

Why did Jesus call Jerusalem the city of the Great King? Because one day the King of kings will reign from that very city in the Millennial Kingdom to come.

Jerusalem is described as a fortress, as God is present in Zion’s citadels, making it a strong and impregnable fortress and refuge against invading armies.

With the rise of Antisemitism in the world and, unfortunately, in the Church, Zionism is under attack today as being labeled as racism, oppression, and colonialism.

This is the finite thinking of men and politically correct governments and Antisemites who have no clue what biblical Zionism is at all. They seek to distort the word, Zion, and make it a byword.

Even some Christians have no clue what Zionism is all about and have become influenced by popular social media personalities who attack the concept of Zionism.

A definition of Zionism is the national movement that supports the self-determination and statehood of the Jewish people in their ancestral biblical homeland, Eretz Yisrael, the land of Israel.

Is Zionism something that some politician thought up? Did Theodore Herzl, the father of modern-day Zionism, come up with the concept? He believed in it. He pushed for it.

Who came up with this concept of Zionism? God! Zionism is a biblical concept of God saying I will restore the Jews to their own ancestral homeland.

That is Ezekiel 37 and Amos 9:15, to mention a few. In Ezekiel 34, God says 18 times, “I will". He will keep His promises to the Jewish people and restore them to their land.

That is biblical Zionism. You do not have to agree with every political decision the Israeli Government makes, but you should know where they stand in terms of God’s promises to them.

Yes, I’ll say it, God is a Zionist. I am a Zionist. Zionism is not racism; Zionism is biblicism. It is the right of the Jews to return to their biblical homeland, and God saw to that.

The word "Zion" is mentioned 153 times in the Old Testament. It is mentioned 6 times in the New Testament as Sion, spelled with an S, but referring to the same location.

For one to say he or she is not a Zionist is to deny biblical Zionism. You can try and muddy the waters, but the Bible is clear on this subject. A Zionist is one who believes in God’s promises to the Jewish people.

Psalm 2 is considered a Messianic prophecy concerning God’s Son, the Messiah of Israel, who will one day reign upon the holy hill of Zion (Psalm 2:6).

Romans 11:26 says the Messiah will come out of Sion (Zion) and will turn away ungodliness from Jacob (Israel). He will lift the scales from their eyes in order for them to repent and acknowledge Yeshua, (Psalm 14:7).

Psalm 48:2 tells us Mt. Zion is on the sides of the north where the Great King will one day reign. He will reign from Mt. Zion on David’s throne in the Kingdom.

Think about it, king David took Mt. Zion from the Jebusites, and he made it the political capital of the Jewish people some 3,000 years ago in 2 Samuel 5:7.

In the future, King Jesus will deliver Mt. Zion from Israel’s enemies, and He will reign from Mt. Zion in Psalm 2:6; 48:2; 69:35; 102:16; Isaiah 2:3. Zionism is biblicism.

The phrase “God of Israel” appears about 200 times in the Bible, specifically in the Old Testament. God is a Zionist. Jesus, as a Jew, a Rabbi, is a Zionist.

He will one day rule from Zion with a rod of iron with Jerusalem as earth’s capital. Zion and Jerusalem are synonymous terms. Jesus will reign from Zion’s holy hill.

Avoid these poisonous people on social media with an anti-Israel bias. Avoid the Antisemites like Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes, and many others like them who spew their poisonous anti-Israel agenda.

Do not let them cloud your biblical worldview with their poison. Read your Bibles. Know Israel’s place in God’s program. Israel is not the Church, and the Church is not Israel.

Neither usurps the other. With the new year 2026, the geo-political world will get worse by the moment and darker by the hour. This shows Jesus is about to return.
